A Summer Pottery Camp

Loly Lutti Pottery Camp

Loly Lutti Summer Pottery Camp has partnered with Nancy Gordon Pottery Studio to offer week-long sessions from mid-June through August. We provide a full-day (9-3) or half-day (9-12) program with a focus on ceramics and other hand crafts.  The camp serves students from age 5-14.  We are fortunate and thrilled to host our camp at the Grauer School in Encinitas.

Hand-building, throwing on the wheel, and glazing will be the focus of the program.  We will also incorporate jewelry making (beading, knotting and wire wrapping) book making and textile arts into our week.

Our warm and knowledgeable instructors and volunteers will encourage your child to explore their own creative vision in clay and to trust their curiosity to guide the learning process. We offer the unique experience of mixed-age camps in which your child will learn not only from the instructor, but also by observing the FRIENDS they make. This open and flexible environment encourages campers to connect with each other and the feeling of clay, often making lasting friendships while exploring a new craft.

Campers are asked to bring a snack (half-day) and lunch (full-day).

Nothing is better than kids+summer+Clay (and the OCCASIONAL donut). I have partnered with my dear freind and mentor, Nancy Gordon, to continue the magic of pottery camp. Nancy Gordon Studio has offered a child-centered art EXPERIENCE for HUNDREDS of children in and around San Diego for more than 30 years. I am honored to join her and CONTINUE this important work.

I have learned EVERYTHING I know about clay from Nancy, the master potter extraordinaire, over the past 10 summers and I look forward to learning everything she will teach me . I have also had the amazing opportunity to have taught in some excellent schools around the world, and feel fortunate to have found my current home in Carlsbad and teaching fourth grade at a wonderful private school in Encinitas. Previous to moving to San Diego, I taught art (K-9th Grade) and contained classroom grades 2-5 at The American School of Milan, Italy, The International School of Copenhagen and the International School of Monaco, France.  I also worked several years teaching in Santa Barbara at a charter school.

I have a BA in Liberal Arts (emphasis in psychology and art) and a MS in Organizational Management (Arts Management). Additionally, I have a MA in Elementary Education. I also hold a Professional Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (K-6), an ESL Teaching Certificate, and a GATE Teaching Certificate.

My passion is art and all things connected.  I believe that children are natural artists and my role is to help children discover and develop their creative nature.   I think that by teaching solid craftsmanship skills and supporting children in taking creative risks helps them create  with confidence.

Let the mess begin:)
